The great thing about Google is that you can find pretty much anything about everything using their search engine. Google have put together a pretty impressive recap of the trends that took a hold of 2014 and this can be found at http://www.google.com/trends/2014/
The site kicks off with a video on the subject of search and then takes you through a variety of subjects that Google has highlighted over the year.
For the football fanatics there are the trends that appeared during the Fifa World Cup and if you are looking for more serious trends then there are things such as Ebola or “verdicts that gripped the world”
As you can expect from Google the data you can access is both interesting and vast…you can get lost quite easily in the process I like to call “sifting” (starting off looking at one thing and then several hours later when you realise the time you have covered about 100 other extremely interesting items).
You can also check out Googles dedicated trends website which has even more comprehensive information on all available trends – http://www.google.com/trends
